Shrimati is very intelligent and could ace anything she put her mind to,but she loved history and studied for the love of the subject. Gently Falls the Bakula tells the story of Shrikant and Shrimati. In the beginning of the book, one encounters a naive romance, a simple case of opposites attract, of love happening amidst fierce competition.

Shrikant meteoric rise to the top makes him ambivalent towards his wife. The book is about a marriage gone sour. Ordinary People, Extraordinary Lives.

Her selflessness helps Shrikant achieve remarkable accomplishments whilst she loses a part of her lover every time he is promoted. In Gently Falls the Bakula, the author brings forth the reality of a relationship between a husband and wife.
