Diana is the latest Anne, or something like that. This novel attempts to explain how this might have come about. Because it is historical fiction, I do not assume that Anne’s thoughts in her last days were on the repression of females in society.
People seemed to love this book or hate it. I loved this book and would recommend it above the Other Boleyn Girl. Besides, how was she supposed to hide any pregnancy? Maxwell’s The Secret Diary of Anne Boleyn is an emotional powerhouse, and it’s neither of their stories told ahne you’ve ever seen them before.
But this is a diary written over a long period of time. I highly recommend it to anyone who has become as much of a Tudor-freak as I am. Elizabeth learns many things about her mother that she was never told. If you’re really interested in either one of these ladies and hey, who wouldn’t be? Maxwell tries to make some profound feminist points through Queen Elizabeth and her mother Anne, “Tomorrow I die because I lusted not for flesh, but to comand my own destiny.
